The Howitzer and Buzz-saw Show

Jan 25, 2019

When things get controversial and asinine in the world of sports, George "the Howitzer" Gerbo and Mike "the Buzz-saw" Asti are at their best. It's all about trying to make sense of a week of controversy on this edition of the Howitzer and Buzz-saw Show.

While there's an argument the NFL is coming off its best Conference Championship Weekend ever, it wasn't without controversy. Did the refs screw the Saints out of a trip to the Super Bowl? Should pass interference now become reviewable? Bill Belichick and Tom Brady it again, winning the AFC once again. Are the NFL's current overtime rules fair? George offers a suggestion for improvement while Mike argues overtime in the NFL has come a long way and things are in fact fair as things are.

The second half of the show includes a debate over the National Baseball Hall of Fame. What prompted the voters to finally award someone 100% of the vote any why was Mariano Rivera that guy? Was justice served finally electing Edgar Martinez? Did Roy Halladay deserve to go in on the first ballot or did his death trigger sympathy votes? And why was Mike Mussina overlooked for so long? Mike also articulates why the percentages of Barry Bonds and Roger Clemens indicate they will likely never be elected by the writers.

It's another edition of the Howitzer and Buzz-saw, which conquers sports radio, one day, at a time....
